LGTM as is.

Note: what I had in mind when I imported muon was also to have something like
MUON_SAFE/MUON_UNSAFE and the ability to decide what default meson
implementation to use.

Given the speed difference, and the reduction of the bootstrap footprint (no
python package to install), it could have significant impact on the cluster.

I am not saying your should do it there, but just sharing what I had in mind.
