this is actually a problem with the port (i thought it was due to the other
gssapi issue):

GSSAPI_BASE_VARS=pkgconfig_paths=${PATCHDIR}
and
post-install-GSSAPI_BASE-on:

should both be removed if base GSSAPI is MIT.

back to maintainer.  untested patch:
