I created an untested patch oh github [1]

This adds a configuration variable to choose which logic to use for
.xsession-error placement. Please express any opinions.

I have NOT tested this code. I'm going to test it in the next few days.

I also plan to see the best way to modify hte port to use OPTIONS for QT and
libaudit support.
