On a system that had been source upgraded from 
stable/15-n280668-998dd4a11a2b 1500500 1500500 amd64
to
stable/15-n280740-317a5dd0288e 1500500 1500500 amd64

reboot and then cd /usr/src && git pull --ff-only (it updates)

then:
# make -j10 buildworld && make -j10 kernel
--- buildworld ---
