Hi,

I also have a Lenovo with touchpad issues (mine is a thinkbook G6)
In my laptop, the motherboard supports several touchpad models (Synaptics,
Elan, ...) Consequently, the firmware defers the selection until runtime and
maybe your issue is related to a missed discovery.

Having the result of a 'devinfo -v' after a a bad and a good boot could help.
