Bug ID: 298575
Summary: /dev/md disappears after using rsync on it
Product: Base System
Version: 15.1-RELEASE
Hardware: Any
OS: Any
Status: New
Severity: Affects Some People
Priority: ---
Component: kern
Assignee: bugs@FreeBSD.org
Reporter: nvass@gmx.com
Hi,
It seems that using rsync on an md device is causing some undetected kernel
corruption. The device disappears from /dev and once /dev/mdctl disappeared.
How to trigger:
root@lamp:~ # mdconfig -a -t swap -s 50M
md0
root@lamp:~ # rsync --inplace --devices /bin/tcsh /dev/md0
rsync: [receiver] open "/dev/md0" failed: Operation not supported (45)
rsync error: some files/attrs were not transferred (see previous errors) (code
23) at main.c(1359) [sender=3.4.1]
root@lamp:~ # mdconfig -l
md0
root@lamp:~ # ls -l /dev/md0
ls: /dev/md0: No such file or directory
The same happens on FBSD-14.
