            Bug ID: 298248
Summary: kbdmap: inactive keypress (function keys)
           Product: Base System
           Version: 16.0-CURRENT
          Hardware: amd64
                OS: Any
            Status: New
          Severity: Affects Only Me
          Priority: ---
         Component: misc
          Assignee: bugs@FreeBSD.org
          Reporter: thierry@FreeBSD.org

I have a laptop, Acer Nitro V15, with a french keyboard layout: see the
attached picture.

I am using fr.acc.kbd (vt), and the keys on the top row (F1 - F12) are mostly
inactive. Esc (échap), impr écr (print), inser, suppr, /, * and On/Off are
working, but no functions key, neither Alt-Fn nor Shift-Fn.

The other key rows and the numeric pad are OK.

In the BIOS there in a switch to select either the multimedia keys or the
functions keys, and I selected the functions keys.

In console or graphical mode with xev I get the same thing:
        F1 - F6: inactive
        F7: p
        F8: l
        F9 - F10: nothing
F11: adjust luminosity of the keyboard, no character
        F12: S

Also attached id the output of `kbdcontrol -d'.

How could I reactivate the function keys?
