I knew the problem was related to the pci sdhci driver. I opened sdhci_pci.c
source file, checked the sdhci devices table, and noticed that my sdhci
controller wasn't listed there

I found a quirk SDHCI_QUIRK_BROKEN_TIMEOUT_VAL (4096), that matched the
"Controller Timeout" error description. Tested it with `sysctl
hw.sdhci.quirk_set=4096` after a reboot, the error didn't pop up

I also checked the linux kernel driver (where this device works fine), which
confirmed this is the correct fix
