            Bug ID: 299454
           Summary: Is top plus/minus 1%?
           Product: Base System
           Version: 15.1-RELEASE
          Hardware: Any
                OS: Any
            Status: New
          Severity: Affects Only Me
          Priority: ---
         Component: bin
          Assignee: bugs@FreeBSD.org
          Reporter: dave@daveg.ca

Created attachment 275769
  --> https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/attachment.cgi?id=275769&action=edit
capture of top output.

So here's a snapshot of my top.

If you don't want to click through to my nextcloud, it shows 'bash' with 1
thread occupying a seemingly impossible 100.26% of a CPU. It varies between
99.5% and 100.5% with almost every sample being different.

I can accept that less than 100% would happen. That makes sense. How is it
that a single threaded process takes more than 100%?

If it matters, the bash in question is running "echo *" on an impossibly large
directory. So it is reading the directory... moderate to high system call
load.
