            Bug ID: 299253
Summary: EDID reading fails for the second monitor on recent
                    CURRENT
           Product: Base System
           Version: 16.0-CURRENT
          Hardware: amd64
                OS: Any
            Status: New
          Severity: Affects Only Me
          Priority: ---
         Component: kern
          Assignee: bugs@FreeBSD.org
          Reporter: zarychtam@plan-b.pwste.edu.pl

The most recent CURRENT can detect only the first monitor properly. The EDID
for the second monitor is not read correctly. It changes when the second
monitor becomes the first, ie. one monitor is disconnected and plugged in
later. Due to the problem with EDID reading, monitor modes cannot be detected
by Xorg for the second monitor, resulting in serious degradation of supported
video modes - VGA still seems to work, though.

To work around this, one can either:
1. Disconnect the first monitor and plug it in later (if feasible).
or
2. Set hw.vga.textmode="1" in loader.conf

The last working version was FreeBSD 16.0-CURRENT #60
main-n289645-a055c1b639fc: Sun Sep 27 (own build from locally patched tree).

I am investigating a presumably offending commit - will report later if my
assumptions are correct.
