I just also hit this bug on my home NAS. I boot it weekly, so other nodes can
use it as a backup target. Last week I updated it (pkgbase) to 15.0p9, but
nothing else changed.

I'm using the EFI console over serial, and there's an HDMI plug simulating a
fake monitor in the HDMI socket. The motherboard is an Asus WS-C246M-PRO with
an i3-9100T (for the record). This combinations has worked fine for months so
far.
