Brightness control does not work on a ThinkPad T490 under FreeBSD/GhostBSD.
There is no usable ACPI backlight interface exposed (no
hw.acpi.video.lcd0.brightness), and the i915kms driver does not provide a
working backlight control either. As a result, brightness cannot be adjusted at
all. This issue is also present on FreeBSD 14.3. The same hardware works
correctly on OpenBSD.
