As a seasoned porter I can state that deprecating procfs is simply unrealistic
unless Linux deprecates it too. There are a lot of software that tries to
access /proc in the wild and it is unrealistic that we patch all of them with
an alternative libprocstat/libkvm code path. Not to mention that all upstreams
wouldn't be happy to accept such patches.

What security issues lead to procfs deprecation exactly? Maybe we could solve
them or strip some functionality.
