That said:

I have a FW.16 too with AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS w/ Radeon 780M Graphics  and after I
load amdgpu.ko the screen goes blank and a few seconds later I find myself at
POST.

I've tried 6.6 and drm-kmod master from github on main to no help.  I do not
get a crashdump either.

I also do have the extra two NVME slots, one now with a wifi card, the other
empty.

Given you are getting a crash dump we may be able to figure it out.  Can you
open a dedicated PR for the issue and set Blocking to 262152?
