The GENERIC kernel with RELEASE does not use the INVARIANTS option, which can
assist with debugging. The backtrace given by Alan Somers at
<https://github.com/openzfs/zfs/issues/17527#issuecomment-3267036313>, for
example.
With 15.0-CURRENT (past) and 16.0-CURRENT, the option is, by default:
- enabled in the GENERIC kernel
- disabled in the GENERIC-NODEBUG kernel.
