v2 of adding the DCO float backport patches transformed for ports use

Marek,

your combination of patches seems to have missed the one line in multi.c where
Gert's 2nd patch changes a #if 0 to a FreeBSD check.

Please back out your ports patch and try mine instead and see how that handles
float messages.
