Thank you for your assessment. It turns out you were right, and the float is
probably the problem. The port openvpn-devel (OpenVPN 2.7_alpha3) seems to work
fine:

openvpn[16688]: peer 3 (mzar) floated from udp6:[AF_INET6]62.x.y.z:53935 to
