Okay, so from a successful shutdown in either Linux or FreeBSD with the
"poweroff" command it seems the next boot works fine even with Hyper Threading
turned ON. A prior failed boot needing hard power, or a standard "reboot"
either one makes it hang on the next boot. And it will continue to hang until
after a proper boot from Linux happens and a clean poweroff is given again.
