So I decided to boot off the BETA1 media in question and when the FreeBSD
Installer Welcome screen appeared, I selected 'Shell' instead of 'Install' to
see what release the Installer is using:

It's perhaps important to note that during the two installation attempts
documented in this PR, when prompted to select the Installation Type, I have
always selected '[Packages (Experimental)]'.
