[Bug 271826] FreeBSD is disastrously slow on a PowerMac G5, freezing at every command

Tried the same installer on my iMac G5 (PowerMac12,1, 1CPU, also DDR2, also
PCI-e graphics, but ATI Radeon X600 Pro instead) and there it works. So the
image doesn't seem to be totally broken.

The main difference between these 2 machines is that the powermac g5 has more
ram, 2 cpu's and a different video card. 

Is the dual core (single cpu, 2 cores) or the Nvidia 6600 graphics known to
cause problems?
