Steps: 

1. in an environment that does not provide TCP/IPv6

2. FreeBSD-15.0-CURRENT-amd64-20250626-dca2ab32e831-278235-bootonly.iso

3. choose traditional, not packages

4. UFS, guided, entire disk

5. when the mirror selection dialogue appears, cancel

6. when the abort dialogue appears (Distribution extract failed), restart

7. proceed with a traditional installation

Expected: 

8. success, without packages

Actual result: 

   Updating repositories 
   failed, try again? 

    [ Yes  ]  [  No  ]

– and ttyv2 shows errors beneath:
