Bug ID: 284435
Summary: [pcm] no /dev/dspX.vpY created when playing sound.
Product: Base System
Version: 14.1-STABLE
Hardware: Any
OS: Any
Status: New
Severity: Affects Only Me
Priority: ---
Component: misc
Assignee: bugs@FreeBSD.org
Reporter: lucretiathandekadvjew0at@gmail.com
Up to my knowledge, sound with devfs are creating new entries in /dev when a
pid requests a sound input / output.
These entries are special character file in this form : /dev/dsp0.vp0 for
playing sound and /dev/dsp0.vr0 for recording sound.
I observe these systems activate correctly in 12.2, in 13.4 but in 14.1-STABLE,
this didn't happen.
I have only investigated by launching mpv or mplayer.
The 12.2 os and 14.1-STABLE ( n267834-e1f5c22be431 ) are in the same machine.
The 13.4 is in a portable pc.
The direct outcome is that I couldn't use mixer to change only one process's
volume.
Hope it was clear, I couldn't any explanation anywhere, so I file this here.
