This error reproduces on the rvvm emulator, where network bandwidth drops to
around 20 kB/s a few seconds after the connection is established.  However, it
seems to also appear on real hardware.

Linux systems on the same emulator do not suffer from this issue, indicating a
possible driver issue.

Note: if you wish to use rvvm to reproduce this, use the current git main, as
the 0.6 release has a bug in the interrupt generation of the emulated card.
