The "pcib10: Power Fault Detected" makes me wonder if there's something else
going on here and Warner's commit merely exposed a separate problem.  The
commit you reverted is about cleanly detaching a disk when it is being
unplugged, so the obvious question here is "why does the system think the disk
is being unplugged".

Warner, any ideas?
