Not sure what you mean.
The bug is quite obvious and I tried it myself with/without extra-directories.

There is no such thing unittest code for this.
If you want it, go ahead and write it.

It comes from the same format used in makefs, and some fs use it.
If you don't want it, remove it in a different commit...
