For my part, it is no problem, as I have already updated my perl-based installer script interpreter to use an internal handler for sysrc script commands that can handle names with dots etc also, instead of actually call= ing sysrc. Just FYI, in the FreeBSD forums sysrc often is being recommended to use when configuration files are to be modified, not limited to rc files. So I understand this actually is *bad* practice, which rather should be *disencouraged*.
