In Linux presence of the the flag sets x86_platform.legacy.no_vga =3D 1 whi= ch is used in only one place, arch/x86/xen/enlighten_hvm.c xen_hvm_guest_late_ini= t() In particular as far as I can tell it does not appear to control whether the VGA console is probed or not. It seems there is a lot of firmware with brok= en ACPI tables that incorrectly sets this flag and it may be better to ignore = it.
