Are you saying that I need to disable GSSAPI and enable PAM, and configure PAM
to use the MIT libraries? Which authentication method(s) should be enabled?

BTW, I have never built or patched the base system before, so that could be a
challenge for me. I'm sure the handbook has some good information, but I'll
gladly accept any pointers on that process.
