I am sorry that nobody was able to investigate this issue after it was
submitted. FreeBSD-update itself does not change partitioning schemes, so I
suspect some other issue contributed to this failure (e.g., it's possible that
an update to the amr driver could be a factor).

I am closing this bug report as the referenced releases are now long past EOL
and I believe any context is long lost.  Please submit a new PR if any issues
still occur.
