Thanks for the info. I believe I have identified the problem, but it would be
helpful if you could confirm the fix.
Please apply the attached patch to a checkout of the src tree, then, compile
and load the hwpmc module. There should be no need to build the kernel in its
entirety, it is enough to do:
# cd /path/to/freebsd-src
# make -C sys/modules/hwpmc
# make -C sys/modules/hwpmc install
# kldload /boot/modules/hwpmc.ko
