You’re welcome ,

that`s normal behavior of RK3399 boards
to be forced to erase their default u-boot/OS from spi & emmc(if available)..
Simply see it as normal OS-installation and take the time to get familiar with it.
But right: the pin -short-circuit-thing  was easier on other boards, e.g. on Rock960 there was a MaskRom button.
Perhaps you try again with the Khadas-fn-button...
