Run top or htop in another window and see memory use when Firefox crashes. Even with swap it will run extremely slowly.

Did you try using firefox-esr? Did you try disabling webgl? See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thxnemnprPg&t=756s

Web search will reveal firefox issues on linux as well.  Though I suspect your best bet is to run firefox on some supported linux for 32 bit arm (since freebsd doesn't have enough resources and had to triage).
