I've now tried a couple of reboots and the MAC address seen by the kernel is
consistent when using u-boot 2024.07, so I'll consider this fixed since that's
the current version in ports.

Note that the address seen by the kernel is completely different to the address
reported by u-boot printenv - that will impact anyone trying to use DHCP from
u-boot but that's a separate issue.
