I tested by rebuilding the memstick image over and over and installing a bhyve VM: sudo make -C release clean && sudo make -C release memstick NOPORTS=y NOPKG=y NOSRC=y WITHOUT_DEBUG=y # ls -al /usr/libexec/bsdinstall/selectdists -r-xr-xr-x 1 root wheel 2882 Jan 31 21:37 /usr/libexec/bsdinstall/selectdists So I am not sure how it worked for me.
