Hello,

there were two reasons:

1. I did not think of it.

2. Now that you have pointed it out, I don't see the advantage. That 
said, I reread the USE_GITHUB section in the Porters' Handbook and 
apparently there is a preference for using an "officially released file".

I'll be happy to update the port to use the PyPI sdist for the next 
version, unless you think it is important enough to do it now.
