While the unbundling itself is pretty obvious, I see a minor discrepancy
between the commit diff and what you say below:

> protobuf is just used to run protoc once

Then why put it on LIB_DEPENDS when BUILD_DEPENDS= protoc:devel/protobuf
is already specified?
