Sure, the same applies to any meta port, including x11/kde and x11/kde-gear.

If you use the official packages, the "trivial options" would change nothing
for you. If you build your own packages, then you do it "manually" already.

I don't install meta ports on my desktop, although as a maintainer I have
to build all of kde@ ports. Also I prefer to avoid superfluous options.
