Why is this using USE_GCC? Does it fail to build with LLVM?

And why USES=compiler? I don't see anything in this Makefile that would 
leverage that, but maybe I'm missing something?

Though ...

...makes me wonder. :-)


Somewhat related questions for octave-forge-csg-toolkit which has

  USES=           compiler octave
  USE_GCC=        yes

  CXXFLAGS+=      -stdlib=libstdc++

Are all three really necessary?
