I noticed there's been a version 4.9.5 available since July 2023, whereas 
the port has 4.9.4.

Any chance you can look into updating and hopefully addressing
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=273683 (and
avoiding USE_GCC there)?
