+FreshPorts, and its sister site, FreshSource, have reported upon FreeBSD commits for over 25 years.
+They cover all commits, but their primary focus is ports.
+
+FreshPorts tracks the commits and extracts data from the port Makefiles to create a database of information useful to both port developers and port users.
+For example, link:https://www.freshports.org/security/acme.sh/[] shows the history of this port, back to its creation in May 2017.
+
+Until now, the website was available only in English.
+
+==== FreshPorts can now be translated
+
+Nearly all of the website's own text has been prepared for translation using gettext, including:
+
+* the page header, sidebar, and footer
+* the account pages, and the signup and password emails
+* the commit, port, and category pages
+* search and the port lists
+* the watch list pages
+* the FAQ and the other information pages
+
+The language is chosen from the browser's settings, and can be changed with a language picker at the bottom of every page.
+Day and month names follow the chosen language too, so "Saturday, 3 Oct 2026" becomes "2026年10月3日星期六" in Chinese.
+Port descriptions, commit messages, and ports framework terms such as `BROKEN` and `USES` come from the ports tree and remain in English.
+The legal and privacy pages also remain in English, so the English text stays authoritative.
+
+Two translations have already been contributed: Simplified Chinese by ykla, and Turkish by Yusuf Yaman.

+==== Help is wanted
+
+There are about 1,180 strings to translate.
+Each translation is a single `.po` file, so no knowledge of PHP is needed, and editors such as Poedit make the work straightforward.
+To contribute, see the instructions at the link above and send a pull request:
+
+* Translate FreshPorts into a new language.
+* Help finish the Simplified Chinese and Turkish translations, which need the newest strings.
+* Review existing translations and report mistranslations as GitHub issues.
+
