Suspend-to-idle and support for S0ix sleep is in the process of being added to FreeBSD.

This will allow modern Intel and AMD laptops, some of which do not support ACPI S3 sleep, to enter low power states to increase battery life.

man:amdsmu[4] now proactively diagnoses S0i3 entry after resuming from suspend-to-idle with a new eventhandler.
If S0i3 was not entered, it will print the IP blocks that were blocking entry to dmesg, along with hints on how to resolve them.

The man:acpi_spmc[4] driver now checks Intel and AMD constraint packages.
Malformed constraints are skipped instead of crashing.

Various improvements were made to the man:thunderbolt[4] driver: support for writing to router config space, controller resets, and a CRC accounting fix for config write messages.
Thunderbolt controllers can now be resumed (in review), which allows multiple suspend-resume cycles without needing to reload the kernel module.

At this point modern standby works reliably on target laptops and most panics have been ironed out.
The primary issue being worked on is GPE events generated while the machine is suspended -- such as plugging or unplugging AC power -- causing panics.
