This report focuses on the efforts using permissively licensed Linux wireless drivers, mostly unmodified, on FreeBSD, as well as preparing the native net80211 stack for support of newer standards.

==== Mediatek mt76 support

A call for testing was put out for mt7921 based PCIe chipsets (MT7920E; MT7921E, also known as AMD RZ608; MT7922E ,also known as AMD RZ616).
This is based on ongoing reviews, mostly to replace an old shortcut in LinuxKPI for struct page.
Despite great interest in the driver the previous years we have not had a lot of feedback.

Work to support further mt76 chipsets will continue.

==== Realtek rtw8x support

Thanks to the debugging of users the situation has slightly improved.
It is expected that Linux v7.3 has a lot of bug fixes in the drivers but due to the timeline of Linux and FreeBSD release schedules may only hit main once again.
Further issues have to worked on and fixed still.

==== LinuxKPI USB support

In previous reports we have reported that this was blocked on a compiler option.
During Q3 we found a way which can limit the scope to just LinuxKPI USB drivers.
There is ongoing work to simplify the build framework for this.
While there are rough edges still, especially around teardown and unplug we hope to put out a stack of changes for review or a tree for testing during October.

==== Native net80211 updates (tech debt)

Initial work to remove workarounds from LinuxKPI and fix net80211 are ongoing.

==== Espressif Systems ESP32-E22 support

The current upstream driver from Espressif Systems on Github v0.6 has been ported to FreeBSD.
Initial changes to fix compiler warnings were submitted back as pull requests.
The driver is currently awaiting a vendor import and to be followed by an unifdef within the FreeBSD tree as upstream supports a wide range of Linux versions.
Special thanks go to Espressif Systems for providing me with two E22 sample cards in order to test the port.
