gpart labels - why arent't some showing up in /dev/gpt/?

Or gpart list, for more verbose output.  Neither of those helps
with commands that require arguments that are device names under
/dev, though (such as mount or zpool create), which I where my
problem lies.  Perhaps I explained it poorly, sorry.
