Mmmm, not really. from[1]:

  We reserve the right to modify the maintainer's submission to better
  match existing policies and style of the Ports Collection without
  explicit blessing from the submitter or the maintainer

Unless the maintainer has specific instructions and very good reasons as
to why the only binary from a port is installed some strange place, it
is your job as a committer to make it right.
