This is a bit of a pity, because now again uefi-edk2-bhyve has that
dependency on the age old GCC 4.8 which we'd like to bury finally --
it went end-of-life upstream in 2015.

(I noticed uefi-edk2-bhyve-devel now has USE_GCC=8+ which I'll replace 
with the practically equivalent and preferrable USE_GCC=yes in a minute.)
