I didn't imply quotes were wrong, I just like backslash better. :-)

I've just tested it with one of my ports where I use backslash instead
of double quotes, `games/qstat'.  I've tried backslash, quotes, and a
pkg-plist file with single @sample line (no quotes, no escaping), the
generated "post-install"/"pre-deinstall" statements in +MANIFEST file
appear to be identical (modulo the order, but that should not play a
role, or should it?).
