Done, hopefully in the proper manner. Two issues for which I have no solution:

1) this is not atomic, which I regret.

2) it would be great if
  https://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/articles/committers-guide/ports.html#ports-qa-repocopy-when
  also had a reasoning and a use-case for why having proper repo-copies
  is important.
