I understand why you did not add a DEPRECATION_DATE line, I'm just saying
as *in this current form* it will not work at all, setting a
DEPRECATION_DATE is a good idea, put it in 3 or 6 months, so that it can be
either fixed in the mean time, or removed when that expires.
