I plan on opening a follow up PR to update to the CodeIgniter 3 branch
since the 2 branch is closing in on EOL. The fix for that PR will likely
be a new maintainer willing to do the leg work to update the port or the
port must be marked DEPRECATED as being unsupported upstream.
