I cringe at my own commit still. I've gotten several complaints. The
thing is that curl was broken at runtime because of the defaults when
combined with security/openssl, so it was broken but not obvious.

I welcome better fixes.

IMHO I prefer GSSAPI_NONE as the default.

Also note I'll be offline from pretty much now until next Tuesday.
